The Earth is full of places few people know exist; forgotten ancient ruins, untouched sea caves, waterfalls hidden deep in forests, and abandoned towns with untold stories. Detourmap.com has gathered more than a hundred thousand such places into a free, interactive map of these hidden wonders of the world.
How does this map work?
Detourmap is built on open Wikidata and displays places across more than 200 countries on a dark, visual map. Every point on the map is linked to a real photo and a Wikipedia article. Users can filter locations by category (such as temples, caves, islands, castles, volcanoes) and by fame, letting them explore everything from famous tourist destinations to places known only to locals.
One Glance, One World
No sign-up is required to use the site, and it’s completely free. Simply select a country, and the map automatically shows you the region’s most scenic and lesser-known locations.
